Buddy is made up of sensors (Obstacle detection, Cliff sensors, Cameras, Caress sensors, Omnidirectional microphones, Touch screen), and actuators (Wheel motors, head motors, arm connectors). Buddy expresses its emotions through a screen that displays its face and through LEDs on its shoulders and chest. It communicates via Wi-Fi wireless networks, 4G SIM card (optional), Bluetooth. It recharges manually via a connector plugged into the charger or automatically by going to its charging station (optional).

We made the strategic choice to open the architecture of our robot and provide an Android SDK for our emotional robot Buddy to easily write interactive applications with Android Studio. This SDK will enable anyone to develop tailor-made applications that leverage Buddy’s unique capabilities and enable it to provide useful services for a wide range of industries
